Financial Aid

The Shehaqua Family is a community of faith and most people participate through our programs. We want to provide everyone with the opportunity to participate and recognize that circumstances sometimes mean families or individuals face true financial hardships. Because we are a healthy community, we have some financial reserves to help those in need. Because we are a compassionate community, we are glad to help. This is who we are and we recognize that we are enriched by serving others.

Shehaqua Family is paid for by those who enjoy our programs. We have no other source of funding.

In seeking to balance the financial health of our community with the financial requests, we want to first offer some words of wisdom from our True Father and the rules below for financial aid.

"What is sin? It is what emerges from self-centered living and not
living for the sake of others. A thief steals out of his personal
desire—the wrong of the act begins there. What is wrong with stealing
a dress from a big department store, where no one will miss it? That
dress has value imparted by the people who invested their sacrifice
and service in making it. Thus the dress has public value. Stealing it
is a sin, because taking something without paying for it nullifies its value
."

Rules for Financial Aid

  1. All applications must be submitted by one week before the start of the program. In summer, it is seven days before the start of Week 1.
  2. Deferred payment plans are preferred over regular discounts.
  3. Deferred payments can be granted after the financial aid application deadline.
  4. Financial aid and deferred payment transactions are strictly confidential. It is expected that confidentiality will be kept by the person receiving aid as well as by the Shehaqua Family Financial Committee.
  5. In order to receive financial aid an application must be submitted to the financial aid committee.
  6. The committee, not the registrar, will determine the Shehaqua Family’s discount or deferred payment offer which will then be communicated to the person requesting aid via the registrar.

As already stated, "because we are a compassionate community, we are glad to help. This is who we are and we recognize that we are enriched by serving others."
